are our commentary on the interpretation of Yoshinobu’s responses. We also have translated the interpreters translations so you can maybe gauge where some information was lost. Finally, we finish with a grade of the interpreter.
[Interpreter Grade]: ? See Below |
Reporter: Yoshi, just how excited are you to be able to get back on the mound tomorrow?
Hiro:
[Translation]: How much are you looking forward to it?
[Translation]: I have been away a while so I am looking forward to it and intend on giving 100%.
Hiro: It's been a while since my last outing so I'm very excited and I'll do my best.
Jack Reporter: During your rehab, what were the things you felt best about and what were the things you still kind of had to work through?
Hiro:
[Translation]: During your rehab what was the best thing?
[Translation]: Yeah, what was the best thing? I don’t know. There were a few good things.
HIro: I'm not sure because even though there's a couple good thing.
Analyst Notes: Hiro did not translate the part of the question where the reporter asked what Yoshinobu should work on so that was never communicated. I should just give him an F right now. He deserves it. |
Reporter: You were only able to go two innings per start. Do you feel like you'd be able to go further into games now that you're back in the big leagues?
[Translation]: Last time it was 2 innings, are you prepared for longer innings?
[Translation]: I can’t really say. I am definitely ready to pitch. I don’t think it will be a 100 pitches but I am ready to pitch tomorrow.
Hiro: Obviously, I am not going to pitch a 100 tomorrow. Even the last was very short in short innings I have been now because I'm ready for that real game.
Reporter: Do you feel you have enough time to you have enough starts to be in a good place with how you feel about your pitching before the postseason?
[Translation]: Presently, for the postseason, October included are you ready for?
[Translation]: For the moment, September’s games I will focus on and gradually improve my performance for October.
Hiro: And then, you know, because one of the outings this month ahead of me I just do one game at a time then that's going to get myself ready for the fall season too as well.
Reporter: With a limited number of pitches tomorrow, how important is it to be in the strike zone?
[Translation]: You probably will have limited pitches tomorrow, how important is it to get strikes tomorrow?
[Translation]: Definitely it is important to prioritize strikes and get ahead in counts. That is the basics so I want to throw good balls in the zone.
Hiro: I believe that's it getting head in the count is very important. First pitch strike is very important so I'm gonna do the best I can to get ahead of the count.
Reporter: I don’t think you have ever missed this much time before, what was that experience like sitting out while you're team played on without you?
[Translation]: Until now you have not not thrown before, how important is that to you Yoshinobu?
[Translation]: I don’t know. What does that mean?
Hiro: I'm sorry, can you repeat the question again?
Reporter: I don't think you've ever sat out that long before. What was the experience like watching the team play and not being able to contribute?
[Translation]: When you haven’t thrown before have you watched your team’s games and felt a dilemma?
[Translation]: Um, yes, definitely I want to get back soon is the feelings that I have. Also, seeing my team stack the wins makes me want to definitely come back as soon as possible.
Hiro: I had been wanting to go back as soon as I can and then watching my teammates accumulating wins so I'm wanting to go back to that.
Analyst Notes: This question also was not translated correctly and caused confusion. |
Jack Reporter: You ever had a 17-pitch at bat before?
Hiro:
[Translation]: Against one batter have you thrown 17 pitches before?
Yoshinobu:
[Translation]: I don’t know. I’m not sure.
Hiro: I’m not sure I remember.
[Interpreter Grade]: F, it is Hiro so of course F. Unfortunately, Yoshinobue selected him for some reason but certainly not for image, competence, or professionalism. Does not deserve to be in the major leagues and is an embarrassment frankly. |
